DECLARATION OF STRENGTH!

“You are the God who does wonders; you have declared your strength among the peoples” (Psalm 77:14).

Man has forgotten God and is trying to exhibit his self-power. He thinks that he could do everything with his own power. It is because of this, he has to face disappointments. In the beginning, to gain name and fame, people tried to build a tall tower named ‘Babel’ with a plan to make its top reach the sky. They thought that nothing could prevent what they wanted to do. At that time, the power of God intercepted. He confused their languages and God scattered them abroad over the face of the whole earth (Genesis 11:1-9).

A huge earthquake occurred in America’s San Francisco. Because of this, the whole city began to burn. Many big buildings fell crashing. In one day, the city lost its pride and glory and wore the look of a heap of garbage.

When the people were looking at the destructions, a Christian boy who was distributing newspapers to the homes told them “Man can never overcome the power of God. It took hundreds of years for man to build this city. The people all along were singing their pride over this building of this city. But God made everything to fall with one earthquake. Man, you are never greater than God and oh, scientists, you are never greater than God.”

The power of man may cease as days pass by but that of God will remain as it is forever. No man can challenge God with his power. God will break all such challenges with His power. 

Once, two atheists blasphemed God in a public meeting. One of them took out his revolver and shot at the sky saying “I am going to kill the God of the Christians. He further challenged saying, “If there is a God, let him descend and kill me.” The other person proudly said, “I have kicked him.” In a few minutes, there were flashes of lightning with the simultaneous crash of thunders. The first man who challenged God was attacked by the lightning fatally. The other person tried to run away but he fell in the melee, broke his legs and in the end, they had to be amputated.

Nobody can oppose God. The power of God is great. Dear children of God, never give importance to your own strength. Always rely upon the power which you received from God through prayer.      

To meditate: “I will go in the strength of the Lord God; I will make mention of your righteousness, of yours only” (Psalm 71:16).
