THE SPECIALITY OF MOTHER!
“My son, hear the instruction of your father and do not forsake the law of your mother” (Proverbs 1:8).
The greatest blessings which God bestows upon a man is his mother and father. The love, sacrifice and the prayer of the mother will stay as a blessing to the children forever. Meditate the lives of several saints. Their mothers have brought them up right from childhood in piety and prayer and this stays as the cause for their exaltation.
Once, Abraham Lincoln said, “I often remember the prayer of my mother. That prayer still keeps on ringing in my ears. The blessings of that prayer keep on following me all through my lifetime”. St. Augustine who was a saint as well as a servant of God, used to thank God always for his mother. He used to praise God every time in his prayer saying, “Lord, if at all I stay as your son today, the reason for it is nothing but the wonderful mother you gave me.”
You might have heard about the devotee, Dwight L. Moody. He was a great servant of God and was a great soul-winning warrior. Once, he said, “I am obliged to my mother for all the things I have achieved.” In the same way, Washington Irving once said, “My mother is the happiest portion of my life.”
Newman Hall who was a great servant of God said, “When I was born, my mother dedicated me to God and prayed that I should become an honest servant of God. The first thought in my remembrance is my mother keeping me on her lap and feeding me repeatedly saying the verse vide John 3:16.”
We read about many mothers in the Scripture. Eve was the mother of all living beings (Genesis 3:20). Sarah was the mother of the nations (Genesis 17:16). Deborah was the mother of Israel (Judges 5:7). Mary was the mother of our Lord (Luke 1:43). Jerusalem is the mother of us all” (Galatians 4:26). Babylon was the mother of Harlots and of the abominations of the earth” (Revelation 17:5).
You should always be obligatory to your mother who gave birth to you and brought you up with care and love. You will be blessed when you love and cherish her. There are Ten Commandments in the Old Testament. God has made only one among them to come along with a promise. That command is “Honour your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”
Dear children of God, always keep your mother happy. Please her always. The blessings of the mother are very great. That too, when you honour your mother at her old age she paves the way for you to receive the blessings in plenty. God will also exalt and bless you.
To meditate: “Listen to your father who begot you and do not despise your mother when she is old” (Proverbs 23:22).
