ONE WITH DILIGENCE AND ONE AT EASE!

“…diligence is man’s precious possession” (Proverbs 12:27).

A careful person is cautious over his belongings. He protects them with extreme care. ‘At ease; is the opposite term for the word ‘cautious’. Amos the prophet says, “Woe to you who are at ease in Zion” (Amos 6:1).

If you remain careless even after getting saved and even after knowing the gifts of God, there cannot be a more pathetic person than you. The Coming of Christ has come closer. God is preparing His people with the anointment of revival. He is anointing all those who are thirsty. He is making them perfect in holiness.

What will happen to a person if he stands in the middle of the road carelessly without minding the bus which comes fast towards him? Won’t the bus knock him down? If a student remains careless without working hard for the fast approaching examinations is there any other option for him other than failing in the examinations? If a person keeps his home unlocked, very well knowing that many valuables are inside, occurrence of theft in that house is quite natural. Is it not?

The cause for the pitiable condition of the people of Sodom was nothing but their lackadaisical attitude. Without trying to know what sort of destruction was in store for them, they ate, drank and lead an aimless life. In the end, the wrath of God descended upon them. God destroyed them by descending brimstone and fire on them from the High.

The prophet Ezekiel says, “Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughter had pride, fullness of food and abundance of idleness” (Ezekiel 16:49). Yes. Carelessness was the cause of destruction of Sodom.

Once, a person was repeatedly warning the authorities that a box with bombs had been placed in the airport. He contacted several officials also through phone and cautioned that the bombs will blast at a particular time. But in spite of all the efforts of the man, the officials remained lethargic and careless about his warnings.

At last, when the custom officials tried to remove the box, the bombs exploded and there were several casualties. See! How sheer lethargicness caused such a great tragedy! The Scripture says, “….the complacency of fools will destroy them” (Proverbs 1:32).

Dear children of God, you have reached the final moments of the world. Your destination is going to be either the sea of fire in the hade or the group of saints in the Heavenly Kingdom. How are you leading your life today? Are you lethargic or cautious?

To meditate: “We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized” (Hebrews 6:11).
