FEARING GOD!

“Who is the man that fears the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses” (Psalm 25:12).

The Scripture is listing out all the blessings one after the other, which one would receive by fearing God. They are innumerable and at the same time eternal. Those blessings reach up to heaven. Okay, fine. How should that Godly fear reflect in you? I just place four points for your meditation.

First of all, you should get rid of all the sins with disgust. The Scripture says, “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil” (Proverbs 8:13).  Bring out a hatred over sins. Look at all those who induce you to do sins as though they are snakes. Bring a firm resolution in your heart saying, “I will please God alone. I will oppose all the dirty thoughts and deeds.” If the fear over God is within you, you will love Him and show bitterness against the worldly lusts.

Secondly, the fear over God brings a dedication to you. You will resolve to dedicate anything to Him. The Scripture says, “And He said, (God told Abraham) “…. for now, I know that you fear God since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me” (Genesis 22:12). How was it revealed that Abraham feared God? It is only through his dedication and submission.

Third, comes the lending of support. When you go through the Scripture portion of I Kings 18:1-8, we come to know that a man of God by name Obadiah supported the ministry and the missionaries and he also fed them as he feared God. Those who fear God exalt His servants. They give generously to the servants of God and turn their shortfalls into plenty.

Fourthly, “The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether” (Psalm 19:9). When you lead an unblemished, pure, holy and a life in which no one could find fault, it gets revealed that you are one to fear God.

Read the entire Scripture. You will notice a particular word finding place right from the book of Genesis to Revelation. It is nothing but the word ‘walk.’ Those who fear God will surely walk in His paths. Dear children of God, will you fear God and walk in His ways?

To meditate: “And His mercy is on those who fear Him From generation to generation. He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts” (Luke 1:50, 51).
