THE FIGHT OF THE LORD!

“The Lord will fight for you and you shall hold your peace” (Exodus 14:14).

Do not worry about who will speak for you, who will explain your justice and who will do justice for you. With love, God looks at you and says, “Son, Daughter, I will plead and fight for you.”

In this terrible world, the judgment and justice get flipped over. Injustice and iniquities are rampant everywhere. Wicked people are conspiring with tricky plans. In this situation, the saying “God will fight for me. He will do everything for me” makes the heart so happy. David says, “Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass” (Psalm 37:5).

There are certain laid down conditions if God is to fight for you. The first condition is that you have to place all your responsibilities and worries over God and remain in rest. If you keep fighting for yourself, God cannot fight for you. That is why the Scripture says “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still” (Exodus 14:14). Many people spoil the whole thing by not keeping still.

At the same time, you have to look up to God and keep on calling Him. You have to keep praying. You have to continue to do these things until God rises and fights for you. The children of Israel cried out to the Lord before He fought for them and we read this in Exodus 14:10. The danger before them was very huge but at the same time, their faith was also very strong. Even amidst their difficult problems and distresses they lifted their eyes to the mountains from where the help came to them.

That day, Jehoshaphat stood worriedly in the battlefield. He had no strength to oppose the enemies. What to do? All that Jehoshaphat did was keeping his eyes upon God. He prayed with tears saying, “…but our eyes are upon you” (II Chronicles 20:12). On hearing this, God rose, fought for them and favoured them.

Dear children of God, He is unchanged even today. His power has not decreased. God is one to fight for you. He has risen to protect you and to do miracles for you with His mighty hand and outstretched arm. Is it a lion’s den? Do not fear. He will tie the mouths of the lions. Is it a blazing furnace? Do not fear. He will change the intensity of the fire and will walk with you.  All you have to do is to praise Him with faith. If you do this, He will raise your head before your enemies and anoint it with oil.

To meditate: “The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; do not forsake the works of your hands” (Psalm 138:8).
