LOVE OF GOD!

“Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (Romans 5:5).

God you worship is a loving God. The Salvation you have received has been given to you through the love of Jesus Christ. The love of God has been poured into your hearts through the anointment you have received.

One day a sister came running to the pastor happily and said, “Pastor, a good news! A happy news!” The pastor also felt happy at this and it is quite natural that a pastor becomes happy when one of his congregational members brings a happy news. With all love, the pastor asked, “Sister, what is the good news? Have you been blessed with any good employment? Has your husband received any promotion in his office? Any of your close relatives is coming to your home from abroad?”

The sister replied, “No such things pastor, the trouble that was pestering me has gone. The happy news is that my mother-in-law has died.” The pastor was surprised to hear this. See! The daughter-in-law has no love towards her mother-in-law and vice versa. The wife has no love for her husband. The children have no love for their parents. You have been living in a society which is devoid of love. But your heart is longing for love.

Amid all the selfish and deceitful love, the love of Christ alone stands as a sacrificial one. It is the love which remains unchanged to the end. It is a love which makes your heart rejoice. Dear children of God, does love rule your heart and your family? Do you show love towards your brothers whom you meet?

The Scripture says, “He, who says he is in the light and hates his brother, is in darkness until now.  He who loves his brother abides in the light and there is no cause for stumbling in him” (I John 2:9, 10).

Jesus said, “Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First, be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift” (Mathew 5:23, 24).

How much Jesus loves you! He shows love towards you not only as God, father, mother and brother but also as a friend. Saying that there is no better love than one who sacrifices his life for the sake of his brother, He revealed His sacrificial love. Will you reflect this love in your life?

To meditate: “I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).
