THE LORD IS THE ROCK!
“Look to the rock from which you were hewn and to the hole of the pit from which you were dug” (Isaiah 51:1).
Isaiah the prophet, does not stop with saying to look to the hole of the pit from which you were dug out but also asks to look to the rock from which you were chiselled out.
You were indeed created from clay. But you are not clay alone. The soul is in you; Spirit is in you too. Spirit is the lamp given by God. The soul came into you from God. Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living being. You have the things of the earth and heaven as well. You have the birth of the flesh and at the same time, you also have a rebirth through the Spirit.
Look up to the rock which begins your spiritual life. He is the rock of wisdom; the rock which walked along with the Israelites. The Lord is that rock. The Scripture says, “He is the Rock” (Deuteronomy 32:4). “That rock was Christ” (I Corinthians 10:4).
When you look to the Christ the rock, your heart gets strengthened; you get excited in spirit; feel happy in the soul. The fountain from the rock comes towards you. That fountain secretes from the rock which is Jesus Christ who quenches your thirst. Do you know what that fountain is? That is the fountain of Salvation. Isaiah the prophet says, “Therefore with joy, you will draw water from the wells of salvation” (Isaiah 12:3).
Jesus said, “But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:14). Dear children of God, when you believe God, the fountain will spring from the rock and overflow in you. You and your family will get quenched of thirst through that fountain. Shouts of the joy of Salvation will be there at your home.
Not only the fountains come from the rock but also the rivers. When the snow on the rock melts, it turns into a river of life. See! How many rivers are flowing from the Himalayan mountains! The river Ganges which never becomes dry flows out from there. River Brahmaputra also originates from there. River Indus is also from there. These are rivers which are perennial throughout the year.
One river originates from the rock which is Jesus Christ. That river is the Holy Spirit. Dear children of God, look up to that rock. You will surely be filled with the Holy Spirit and the power.
To meditate: “And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb” (Revelation 22:1).
